How do you protect member's photographs once they are displayed online? New!

All photographs entered into the contest are displayed at only 600 pixels wide and at 72 dpi. We have also disabled the right-click feature of most mice so that people cannot "save" the photograph to their computers. (This is not perfect, but stops most visitors from downloading photographs)

Weekly, monthly and yearly winning photographs are edited for display as desktop wallpapers respectively at 1024x768 and 800x600 at 72dpi.  Even though these are normally many of the best photographs displayed on the website and are probably sought after by those wishing to find quality photographs, the desktop wallpapers help us to promote the various properties to potentially many more people then perhaps visit MyParkPhotos.com.  Beginning in March, an email will be sent out to all monthly winners inquiring as to their permission for us to display their photographs as desktop wallpapers.  This will not have any bearing on the contest and whether or not a photograph wins a weekly, monthly or yearly competition.

If anyone has any further ways in which we may safeguard photographer's work, please contact us.

How will MyParkPhotos.com use the photos registered by photographers?

Photographs registered with MyParkPhotos.com are used only for contest purposes and promotion of national, state and provincial parks, wildlife refuges and forests through our website, publications, desktop wallpapers and advertising (Some Monthly, but mainly Yearly Winning Photographs Only). We are hoping to develop a coffee table book that will contain many of the main contest and scholarship contest photographs and with several park articles by members at the end of the 2005 yearly contest.

Member's photographs are not provided to any third parties or sponsors.

All photographs registered with the MyParkPhotos.com photo contest are eligible to win in any or all of four different contests:

1) A Photo of the Day (POTD) contest from all photographs registered each day judged each evening around 11:00PM. The award for this daily  contest is simply recognition of good work by a particular photographer.

1) A Photo of the Week (POTW) contest during the week that the photographs are registered (judged each Sunday evening). One photographer is awarded a yearly subscription to the Shutterbug magazine for winning the POTW. A Desktop Wallpaper is also created to further promote the photographer, property, and photograph.

2) A Monthly contest is held in the first week of each month to determine twelve winning photographs (one per category) from all of the preceding month's photographs submitted during that particular month. Winners of each monthly contest receive an award certificate and their photo displayed on a mouse pad. These twelve winning pictures are then placed into our eNewsletter where our subscribers will Vote for one of the twelve to be the Best Photograph of the Month. This BPOTM winner receives a copy of their picture framed with a plate describing their achievement and award.

3) A Yearly contest in which all photographs registered between October 1, 2004 and September 30, 2005 will be judged by category. A panel of judges will announce the Best of Show winner and 1st place winners for each of our twelve categories. These yearly winners will receive cash and prizes totaling more than $3,000.
